Featured Series: Focus on World Music

The Focus on World Music Series closely examines music and culture around the globe.

The Focus on World Music Series brings together regional studies for area studies courses in world music, ethnomusicology, and interdisciplinary programs with a strong music component. The books cover regions from South Africa to Ireland to Brazil and are written by some of the most engaging scholars in Ethnomusicology.

Each book begins with an overview of the region, bringing the historical significance and rich cultural heritage into context. Each proceeds to look at the music of the region, before narrowing in on a musical case study. This makes it not only an ideal text for regional studies, but also for field methods courses.

Each book is also accompanied by an audio CD that features commercial and field recordings.
