This workshop begins with a description of tics, the course of Tourette Syndrome, and the behavioral model of tics. Dr. Woods describes the importance of understanding the environmental factors or antecedents that impact tics. Next, Dr. Woods discusses the research background and rationale for behavior therapy for Tourette Syndrome in children and Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT). CBIT includes techniques such as psychoeducation, habit reversal therapy, functional intervention, reward systems, and relaxation training. Lastly, a live recording of a sample session is provided.
