The Student Pack contains the introductory versions of PLAXIS 2D and PLAXIS 3D software, and a special version of the Tutorial Manual 2010.
PLAXIS software is based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) and intended for 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional geotechnical analyses of deformation and stability of soil structures, as well as groundwater flow, and used in geo-engineering applications such as excavation, foundations, embankments and tunnels.
Though the various lessons deal with a wide range of interesting practical applications, this Tutorial Manual is intended to help new users become familiar with PLAXIS. The lessons should therefore not be used as a basis for practical projects. This Tutorial Manual does not provide theoretical background information on the Finite Element Method, nor does it explain the details of the various soil models available in the program. The latter can be found in the Material Models Manual, included in the full manual, and the theoretical background is given in the Scientific Manual.
1. Introduction
PLAXIS 2D
2. Settlement of a circular footing on snd
3. Submerged construction of an excavation
PLAXIS 3D
4. Foundation in overconsolidated clay
5. Excavation clay
