Taylor and Francis publish hundreds of journals and thousands of new books each year, from offices all over the world. Every month, a selection of books from Routledge, Psychology Press, Focal Press, and Informa Law are picked as part of our Books of the Month campaign.

Jeremy North, Managing Director of Routledge Books, says: "The Books of the Month selection is individual and quirky. The books are chosen to display the wonderful range of our publishing; to highlight interesting design and production challenges; and to reflect recent acquisitions. Or just because they catch the eye in some way."
Chokri Belaid, 48, leader of the Unified Democratic Nationalist party, was shot three times in the head and chest by a man who fled on a motorcycle on Wednesday morning as he left his home in Tunis. He died in hospital shortly afterwards. Mr Belaid had criticised Islamist violence, accusing the ruling party, al-Nahda, and its leader, Rachid Ghannouchi, of sympathising with the perpetrators. Read the article here.

Discourse (both popular and academic) surrounding Turkey has leaned toward the reductionist and the de-contextualized, framing Turkish media, culture and politics in polarized terms such as East vs. West, Modern vs. Traditional or Muslim vs. Christian.

Since 2000, there has been a considerable effort in Turkish cinema to come to terms with the military’s intervention in politics and subsequent national trauma. It has resulted in an outpouring of cinematic texts. Texts such as Women and Turkish Cinema, The Routledge Dictionary of Turkish Cinema and Understanding Media and Culture in Turkey will be invaluable resources for students and scholars of Film Studies, Gender Studies and Middle East Studies, amongst others.
