It provides lively and well-informed coverage of all the main areas in psychology: developmental psychology; social psychology; comparative psychology; biopsychology; abnormal psychology; cognitive psychology; major perspectives in psychology; and research methods.

This book is written in an exceptionally clear and accessible way. It is structured to make it easy for the reader to develop his or her understanding of psychology. Most topics are dealt with in terms of the TEE approach: theory (T), evidence (E), and evaluation (E). This is designed to enhance the reader's ability to assess and to criticise. In addition, the text contains key research studies, case studies, research activities, questions in the text, personal reflections, and definitions of all key terms.

In sum, Psychology: A Student's Handbook provides the ideal comprehensive introduction to psychology for all students.

Quotes

'This book has a lot of potential... not only as a major student textbook for A level psychology but also as a first year undergraduate book. It is very clearly written... the summary sections, essay titles and glossary are very useful, and Eysenck's use of theory, evidence and evaluation as an overall structure for most chapters works exceptionally well.' - Roz Brody, Head of Psychology, Brighton, Hove and Sussex Sixth Form College

'It is essential for every department's reference library, but I would say that many of you would also want to own it. It is also worth saying that it is extremely good value at just under 1000 pages. As you may have gathered, I am an enthusiast of this book.' - Bob Wright, Leeds General Infirmary, Accident and Emergency Nursing

'...I must say how well written and how easy to read it is. It is clear, direct and accessible without being patronising or over simplistic. The writing is superior to its competitors because of the consistency that comes from a single authored text and the excellent readability.' - Phil Baynard, Nottingham Trent University, UK
