About the Series

The Psychology Press Key Readings series aims to make available to senior undergraduate and graduate students key classic and contemporary articles in core areas of psychology, in an attractive, user-friendly format.

Many professors want their students to engage directly with research in their fields, yet this can often be daunting for students coming to detailed study of a topic for the first time. Meanwhile, the preparation of course packs can be expensive and time-consuming, with many articles not always readily available.

Key Readings in Psychology addresses this need by providing comprehensive volumes, each edited by a senior and active researcher in that particular field. Every article is carefully selected to illustrate the way the field has developed historically, as well as to highlight current issues and research directions. Each volume includes:

  • An overview chapter, as well as introduction to sections and articles.
  • Questions for class discussion.
  • Annotated bibliographies.
  • Comprehensive author and subject indexes.
  • A chapter on how to read a journal article in psychology, especially prepared for this series.

Key Readings volumes are currently available in Cognition, Developmental Psychology, and Social Psychology. There are many new volumes in preparation, so please check back often to find out the latest updates to the series.
