Social Security Disability
Many individuals with neuropsychological disabilities will not have the capabilities necessary to work and will be appropriate to receive social security disability funds. Following are directions to identify the local social security/disability determinations office in each US state and territory. This website will provide the contact information for each office, as well as general instructions regarding how to apply for disability resources.
In order to refer individuals to their local DDS and field offices, you can locate their local Social Security Office by accessing the following website: www.socialsecurity.gov/regions.
After accessing the site and locating the individual's state, select "Field Office Locator" or "Find Your Local Office" which will ask for the zip code for the individual's home residence. Contact information (i.e., address, phone numbers, etc.) for the social security disability office closest to the individual's home can then be provided in the following recommendation.
- It is recommended that (YOUR CLIENT) receive disability support at this time based on their neuropsychological disabilities. It is recommended that they contact the following Social Security Office to obtain information about appropriate disability resources and requirements to apply for it: LIST CONTACT INFORMATION HERE.
- General information related to Social Security benefits, including materials needed to apply for disability benefits, can be obtained from Social Security Online.
- Social Security also has a toll-free number that will help identify local offices and answer any questions, including publication information. This number operates from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday: 1-800-772-1213. People who are deaf or hard of hearing may call the toll-free TTY number, 1-800-325-0778, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
