Verbal Memory Strengths
Following are suggestions to assist individuals who remember information best if they hear it:
- Provide all information to the individual in spoken/verbal formats (e.g., in conversations describe pictures, state what needs to be done while demonstrating the task, etc.).
- Provide frequent verbal reminders.
- Have the individual read out loud.
- Have the individual tape record all important material to be remembered (e.g., class lectures, business meetings, phone messages, important conversations, etc.).
- Have the individual use a digital voice reminder to record all conversations or thoughts that need to be recalled at a later time.
- Provide note takers to allow the individual to focus on remembering information they hear (e.g., lectures, presentations, etc.).
