The Europa World of Learning covers over 220 countries and territories, for each of which we list accredited universities and colleges, as you would expect, but also research institutes, libraries and archives, museums and art galleries, learned societies, relevant ministries, accrediting bodies and funding organizations. All of this is put into context by an introductory survey which outlines the higher education system for each country or territory.
There is also extensive coverage of international organizations active in the fields of education, research, culture, science and the arts.
Nowhere else will you find such authoritative information over the entire spectrum of academic activity worldwide gathered together in one place.
Ensuring the information is up-to-date
We keep our information accurate by taking updates directly from the institutions that we feature. Each year we invite entrants to review and update their entries either online, by email or through the post. We also have a team of researchers who supplement these efforts with continuous research on the internet and in the world's press, as well as through contact with official sources worldwide.
In addition to the regular updating of our entries, the 64th edition has expanded coverage of institutions in a number of areas. Special projects were undertaken to update and expand our listings in 35 countries. There are now over 31,500 entries in The Europa World of Learning containing over 64,000 email and web addresses.
A new development: The introduction of the editorial board
The Europa World of Learning has included introductory essays for a few years now, which serve to deepen our customers’ understanding of the areas we cover. One development that we’re particularly proud of is the introduction of our editorial board. Each year the board chooses a theme pertinent to international higher education, and guides the commissioning of about five essays to address it. The board also appoints a guest editor to oversee each set of thematically linked essays and to write an accompanying introduction to the issue. The first set of linked essays to be commissioned by the board features in this edition and is on the theme of The University in Turbulent Times.
