Proposals

The Editors welcome proposals written by a chosen expert (or experts) in a specific aspect of adolescence. They should set out to provide either a clear picture of the research endeavours, which are currently serving to extend the boundaries of our knowledge and understanding of the field, or an insightful theoretical perspective of adolescent development. The proposals should be original contributions to the field, neither a textbook-like review of the state of the art nor a book of readings.

Below is a list of broad topics that require significant attention and the Editors invite colleagues to submit book proposals in these, and other, areas:

  1. Inter-generational issues;
  2. Peers and parents;
  3. Mentoring adolescents;
  4. Young people and IT/Internet;
  5. Cross-cultural comparisons;
  6. Adolescents growing up in non-traditional families;
  7. Journeys into adolescence (possibly Leo & Marion);
  8. Adolescent risk-taking;
  9. Youth subcultures;
  10. Adolescents and terrorism;
  11. The adolescent in literature;
  12. Adolescents and violence;
  13. Crossing borders: emigration and tourism;
  14. Youth participation and initiatives;
  15. Adolescence in the lifespan;
  16. Health issues in adolescence (including mental health);
  17. Romantic relations in adolescence;
  18. Adolescent identity formation- identity/ self-esteem;
  19. Leisure and lifestyles: adolescent gambling/ illegal leisure and recreational drug use; adolescent addiction.
